Dear Friends,

The world, and perhaps your personal world, has felt unstable for years. For you, maybe it started when you were laid off from work during the pandemic, or when a loved one passed, or a betrayal came to light. Maybe it started to sink in as you watched the evening news or read another headline or your cousin’s divisive Facebook post.

Whatever your situation, most of us have had a time in our lives when it feels like we’re just treading water. How can we trust God to pull us out of it, when it feels like He’s so far away? How do we have confidence in Him when everything else feels so uncertain?

When Jesus calls Peter to walk across the water and join Him, Peter loses his certainty when he focuses on the strength of the waves instead of the face of his Savior (Matt. 14:22-33). Our writers this week remind us of that truth: when we fix our eyes on our God, we can stand firm. We pray that you find firm footing through their words, in His grace.

Encouraging you in God’s truth,

He’s Still on the Throne

Finding stability and hope in a challenging world.

By Stuart Briscoe

We live in a fallen world that is far from ideal. Economists tell young people that they will be the first generation that will have to settle for a lower standard of living than enjoyed by their parents. Politicians preside over deadlock, their supporters vilifying their opponents with vitriol. War and rumors of war dominate the news. Social mores are in a tailspin. Violence rules in inner cities. Drug addiction is reaching epic proportions. And, many followers of Jesus around the world are experiencing a sense of unease and dread. Some are even in danger of giving way to despair and fear. Most are looking for encouragement and assurance as they face uncertain times.
