Dear Friends,

Some prayers feel especially tender—soaked with tears, whispered in the quiet of night, or shouted from the ache of our hearts. If you’ve ever prayed for a child who’s walked away from the faith, you know this kind of prayer intimately.

This week we’re diving deep into the faithful, heart-stretching journey of praying for our prodigals—trusting the God who pursues with love that never lets go.

Let’s keep believing together. He’s not done yet.

Praying Our Prodigals Home

Five Powerful Ways to Pray for the Children We Long
to See Return Home.

By: Carla Gasser

A few years ago, when my children began to leave the nest, I started a quiet ritual. Every night as I climbed into bed, I would picture each of my grown or almost-grown kids wherever they were—sometimes even asking them for photos of their bedrooms so I could imagine them settled and safe.

I know they’re not always tucked in when I am (my bedtime’s definitely earlier!), and I don’t call or text to check. But something about pausing to envision them—and pray—gives me comfort. While I can no longer kneel beside them like I once did, I can still lift them up to the One who never sleeps and never lets go.

Lately, my heart has been especially heavy for those who have wandered far, not just across cities or states, but far from God. Perhaps you have a son who has stopped responding to your texts. A daughter who’s walked away from church and family. A child entangled in addiction, bitterness, or unbelief. A prodigal.

And maybe like me, you’re longing to love them home.
