Dear Friends,

What does courage really look like? For most of us, it doesn’t come wrapped in bold speeches or grand gestures. It often looks like quiet obedience—saying yes to God when everything in us wants to run the other way.

In this week’s featured article, Courageous Women, Laura reminds us that courage and fear often walk hand in hand. She shares how mentoring in the inner city, stepping into new relationships, and speaking out on hard topics didn’t come without fear—but that God met her in those very places.

As we dig deeper into what it means to let go of fear, let’s remember that God doesn’t wait for us to feel brave before He invites us forward. He simply asks us to trust Him enough to take the next step—fear and all—knowing He walks with us every inch of the way.

Encouraging you in God’s truth,

Three Steps to Deal with Fear

Letting go of fear often feels like peeling layers off an onion—slow, sometimes tearful, and one layer at a time. It’s not a once-and-done choice but a daily invitation to trust God instead of our own sense of control.

Think of Peter, stepping out of the boat (Matthew 14:22–33). He walked on water—not because he wasn’t afraid, but because his eyes were on Jesus. When he looked at the wind, he sank. When he cried out, Jesus reached for him immediately.

That’s the grace of our Savior: He doesn’t wait for us to be fearless. He reaches for us in our fear.

Letting go of fear doesn’t mean we won’t feel it, but these three steps will help us remember that we trust God, who is greater than the fear.
