Comparison Is Depleting Our Faith
Trusting God with Your Worth

I watched an important national event on television the other day. One of the leaders on my television screen grew up in the same neighborhood as I did. She graduated high school a year earlier than me. She epitomized perfection and walked with elegance. I thought, What have I done with my life? I looked down and there I was, sitting on my couch in my pajamas, eating my third bowl of soup.
After making myself feel bad by comparing myself to her highlight reel, I decided to do some googling. I was amazed to see all her accomplishments and all the degrees she received. After learning more about her life journey, I realized that I really didn’t care to have her life. She worked hard and I’m happy for her, but I was not remotely interested in doing anything she had done. I realized the silliness of my comparison. As I continued watching the event, I shifted my focus of comparison to joy in seeing someone from my neighborhood make it to the stage that she did.

Comparison can separate us from our faith when we dwell in our pride. When this happens, we can take a step back and gain perspective. Remember:
