From the very beginning, our founder Jill Briscoe’s heartbeat was to reach people with the Gospel and the hope of Christ. In her early days, that meant pouring into youth; later, God turned her heart to women. Her passion to share Jesus never wavered—only the methods changed.
Jill was never one to sit back and wait for people to come to her. As a young woman, she walked boldly into coffee bars filled with gangs. She bought a map of the Lake District in England, marked every coffee house, disco, and tavern where young people gathered, and systematically went to each one—determined that no pocket of youth would be overlooked.
Later, when God called her to reach suburban women in America, Jill prayed, “Lord, show me how.” And just as before, she made a plan. With her team, she visited clubs across Milwaukee, inviting women to retreats and testifying to what God had done in her life. She believed, as she so often said: “You go where you’re sent, you stay where you’re put, and you give what you’ve got.”
Her creativity never stopped. When asked years later what excited her most about ministry, Jill responded: “We have a new generation that responds to image, color, movement, and video. I’m excited about using all that to reach people who would never darken the door of a church. We need to be presenting Jesus in any way we can.”
That heartbeat gave birth to Just Between Us. What started as Jill’s dream for a print magazine has become a vibrant digital platform—reaching women in places a print magazine could never go. The mission remains unchanged: to encourage and equip women to live out their faith. But the methods, just as Jill modeled, have evolved to meet women where they are—on their devices 24/7, across 214+ countries.
