10-Day Prayer Journey | Day 5
Intercession
Day 5 | Intercession
1 Timothy 2:1 says: “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone.”
People need the Lord in these days, whether they admit it or not. What an awesome gift and privilege is ours to pray for one another! Have you ever stopped to consider that someone prayed you into God’s kingdom? Have you ever asked someone for prayer concerning matters of your heart? You have the privilege and opportunity to offer prayers of intercession on behalf of so many people who are experiencing fear and anxiety right now: unsaved loved ones, friends, family, coworkers, health workers, police officers, firefighters, and others. We have the ability to cry out to God on their behalf, to stand in the gap for them. Prayers of intercession are powerful!
PRAYER PROMPT:
Take time to make or revise your prayer list. Be sure to add your community, your government, pastors and churches, families and kids, etc.
Ask the Lord to bring to mind people in your life who need prayer.
Write an encouragement note to one of the people on your list to let them know you’re praying for them.
BIBLE VERSES:
“...you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many” (2 Corinthians 1:11).
“In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out” (Ephesians 6:18).
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
Take a moment and answer the following reflection questions in your journal or in the comments below.
Who in your life might need your intercessory prayers right now, and how can you make their needs a regular part of your prayer routine?
Reflecting on the power of intercession, how can you be more intentional in standing in the gap for others, especially those who may be struggling with fear and anxiety?

It’s so comforting to know that we can intercede for others and lift them up in their times of need. I love the thought of standing in the gap for those around us. Let's make it a habit to pray for our loved ones and those serving our communities. Who can we pray for today? 💖
Prayer Day 5 | Intercession
Lord,
As we gather in Your presence, we pause to acknowledge the incredible gift of prayer that You have given us. Thank You for inviting us into the sacred act of intercession, where we can stand in the gap for those who need Your love and grace.
Lord, we lift up our loved ones, friends, and neighbors who are grappling with fear and anxiety in these tumultuous times. You know their hearts and struggles, and we ask that You wrap them in Your comforting embrace. May they feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
We pray for the unsaved, those who have yet to come to know You. Stir their hearts and open their eyes to the truth of Your love. Use us as vessels of encouragement, and let our prayers be a beacon of hope in their lives.
We also bring before You our first responders—health workers, police officers, firefighters—who tirelessly serve our communities. Protect them, Lord, and grant them strength and resilience as they navigate their challenging roles. Fill them with Your spirit, so they may reflect Your light to those they serve.
We intercede for our leaders, both locally and nationally. Grant them wisdom and discernment as they make decisions that affect us all. May they seek Your guidance and lead with compassion and integrity.
As we create our prayer lists, Lord, remind us of the power of our prayers. Bring to mind those who need our intercession, and help us to be faithful in lifting them up to You daily.
We ask for Your encouragement to flow through us as we reach out to those on our lists, letting them know they are loved and covered in prayer. May our words be a source of strength and hope.
Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of standing in prayer for others. Help us to remain vigilant and intentional in our prayers, knowing that You can change lives.
In Jesus’ name, we pray,
Amen.
